Abstract

Economic heterosis ranged from -34⋅44 per cent for effective tiller number (K. Sona × Norteno 67) to 50⋅11 per cent for grain yield per plant (K. Sona x Moti) and the estimates of heterosis over mid-parental value ranged from –30⋅55 per cent for tiller number (K. Sona X WL 212) to 76⋅85 per cent for grain yield (K. Sona × Moti). All the hybrids showing higher heterosis, also showed high inbreeding depression except the crosses Norteno 67 × Moti and K. Sona × Norteno 67.
