Abstract

Composites involving different height classes of wheat genotypes were neilher superior nor inferior in yield over the average yield of their components. However, certain composites gave as high as 8⋅5% more yield over the average of their components. It should be possible to grow composites where height and maturity differences are not much. To make it more acceptable to the farmers uniformity of grain size of the components may be kept in view. Since the composite will be a heterogenous population, its flexibility and adaptability is expected to be higher under adverse conditions.
