Abstract

Gamma irradiated dry seeds of Linum usitatissimum L. var. ‘Hira’, ‘Mukta’ and ‘Neelum’ were sown in the field. Pollen and ovule sterility and grain yield for each treatment was determined. In all the varieties an increase in pollen and ovule sterility and yield reduction with an increase in dose of irradiation was apparent. PD, OD and YD 30, 50, 70 and 90 values for each variety were estimated where significant regression variance was observed. The estimated probit values revealed that maximum resistance to irradiation is exhibited in pollen, followed by ovule and grain yield.
