Abstract

The estimates for gene effects for resistance to Cephalosporium stalk rot were obtained in 45 crosses involving 5 resistant and 5 susceptible lines in all possible combinations. Resistance was incompletely dominant over susceptibility. The mean disease ratings of F2’s in general were greater than F1’s. The ratings of back crosses tended to regress towards the recurrent parents. Additive gene effects and additive × dominance genie interactions were more important for disease reaction. The role of dominance, additive × additive and dominance × dominance, effects was evident.
