Combining ability for yield and five yield components was studied in a set of eight parent diallel crosses including reciprocals, of maize. The inbred lines included in this study were ‘CM 101’, ‘CM 110’, ‘GT 112’, ‘CM 201’, ‘Eto’, ‘Cuba 24’, ‘DA-1’ and ‘KT 41’. Both GCA and SCA mean squares were found to be significant. ‘Eto’, ‘Cuba 24’ and ‘DA-1’ were observed to be good general combiners for grain yield. Good combiners for grain yield were also generally good combiners for 100-grain weight. Variation due to reciprocal differences was significant for grain yield.
