Abstract

The nature and magnitude of genetic diversity as measured by MahaJanobis’s D’ statistic was studied for a set of eight characters related to yield and fitness in 40 indigenous and exotic strains of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). The population was grouped into ten different clusters. Geographic diversity did not seem to have a direct association with genetic diversity.
