Abstract

Combining ability for oil content in linseed was studied in a complete diallel set of eight parents without reciprocals. Combining ability variances indicated the importance of both additive and non-additive type of gene action. Among the parents UD-3 was best general combiner and had high per se value for oil content. Specific effects for oil content were inconsistent and crosses involving better combiners showed low specific effects. Development of biparental progenies at successive generation of hybridization was suggested.
