Abstract

A diallel cross among sorghum lines resistant and susceptible to grain mould caused by Curvularia was made and the data were analysed following Griffing (1956) and Singh (1973). Both GGA and SCA components of variance were significant for reaction to mould. However, GGA was larger in magnitude suggesting predominance of additive genetic variance. Nevertheless, non-additive genetic variance was also important. ‘2219B’ and ‘IS 9327’ were resistant combiners. ‘SPV 29 × IS 9333’, ‘CSV 3 × 2219B’ and ‘CSV 3 × SPV 29’ were desirable combinations with respect to mould reaction.
