Abstract

Promising gall midge cultures were identified by selecting the early generation breeding material (F2-F6) under field conditions in endemic area as well as in the green house under artificial conditions. Cultures with slender grains belonging to 92-100 days with superior yield to ‘Jaya’ and 108 to 115 days flowering duration with superior yield to ‘Vikram’ were identified and are in coordinated tests. IET 6187 (RP 825-71-4-11) with 99 days flowering duration and slender grains was entered in ‘minikit trials in the endemic areas. Evolution of cultures with multiple resistance with early and late duration groups is stressed.
