A 20-parent partial diallel analysis (S-9) was conducted to determine the genetic architecture of seed size in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss.). The variances for general and specific combining ability were highly significant. The estimates of σ2g were lower than σ2s in both the generations, indicating the predominant role of non-additive gene action. Parents Varuna and Cult. 47 were good general combiners.
