Abstract

The inheritance of four characters were studied in three crossed involving one wild and three cultivated melons. Bitterness of tender fruits, and smooth fruit surface were monogenically dominant. Yellow colour of fruit skin was monogenically dominant over green but recessive to dark green colour. Bursting of fruits was digenically controlled. Both complementary and supplementary gene action were observed.
