Abstract

Sixteen parents, 60 F1, 60 F2, 60 BC1 and 60 BC2 were used to study the components of genetic variances and heritability for resistance iri pearl millet to downy mildew under artificial epiphytotic conditions. The results revealed that non-additive i.e., dominance effects are more important than additive effects in most of the crosses. The degree of dominance is overdominance. Some crosses showed the importance of additive effects and partial dominance nature. Heritabihty values also suggested predominance of non-additive effects for resistance.
