Abstract

The inheritance of resistance to downy mildew in pearl millet was studied based on 16 parental lines, their F1, F2, BC1, BC2 progenies under artificial epiphytotic conditions. There is no dominance either for resistance or susceptibility. Susceptible × susceptible combinations are not as susceptible as expected. The chi-square values for different ratios and heterogeneity components show that the resistance to downy mildew in pearl millet is not simple but quantitative in inheritance.
