Abstract

In rice bean (Vigna umbellata) the inheritance of flower colour (standard and wing), days to flower, hilum ring colour and joint segregations between these and some other characters were studied in crosses between different selections. It is inferred that the flower colour (Lyalya), days to flower (E-e) and hilum ring colour (Ph-ph) are monogenically inherited. It is suggested that the stem colour is independent of seed coat base colour, hilum ring colour and days to flower. Also, hilum ring colour is independently inherited with respect to seed coat colour (base and mosaic). Seed coat base colour and pod colour genes are independent.
