Studies on the genetics of seedling resistance to race H2 of leaf rust were conducted under controlled conditions at Simla, using BHS 24, HBL 189 and BH 36 as sources of resistance and Jyoti and P 147 as susceptible cultivars. Results showed that a single dominant pair of genes governed resistance of both BHS 24 and HBL 189 whereas a pair of dominant duplicate factors controlled resistance of BH 36. Genes for resistance carried by BHS 24 and HBL 189 were at the same locus whereas BH 36 possessed different genes than those of HBL 189.
