Abstract

The inheritance of plant type in groundnut followed a qualitative pattern, tall being monogenically dominant over dwarf with some minor modifying genes. Polygenic influence on testa colour was observed, brown being absolute recessive in nature. No differences were found in reciprocal crosses, suggesting that maternal inheritance was not involved for the characters studied.
