Abstract

Genetic analysis of generation means was conducted in six crosses of triticale for grain yield and its components. F2 mean values deviated significantly from the mid-parental and Fi means which indicated the presence of high heterosis and inbreeding depression for all the characters. Additive and dominance gene effects were important for several characters. The dominance effects were generally larger than the additive effects. Of the three epistatic effects, additive × additive type was the most important. The biparental mating approach was suggested for improving grain yield in triticale.
