Abstract

The geneticat analysis of flag leaf area was undertaken using 60 3-way hybrids involving six varieties in a triallel mating design. The character showed predominantly dominance variance. Among epistatic effects, additive × dominance type was maximum followed by dominance × dominance and additive × additive type of gene effects. Additive variance was the lowest for the trait. HUW 12 and PC 1031 were good general combiners as grand parents and immediate parents as well. PC 823 (Maina) was very good combiner as immediate parent. The importance of the two-line and three-line specific effects was realised.
