Abstract

Low level of cross pollination in rice being largely due to its unfavourable ioral structure and behaviour of flowering, a genetic study was made to understand the mode of inheritance of anther size and stigma exsertion. Study of three different cross combinations involving seven different varieties having contrasting anther and stigma characteristics revealed long anther and fully exserted stigma to be monogenic dominant over short anther and partially exserted stigma respectively.
