Six yellow seeded polish types and four Indian improved brown seeded cultivars, and their 18 crosses in various generations were studied for the Inheritance of seed coat colour in brown mustard. The study revealed a consistent behaviours of all crosses with material control of immediate pigment development of the seed coat and that two pairs of duplicate genes, either of which producing brown seed coat in dominant allelic form govern the inheritance of seed coat colour. The genotypic symbols and their schematic representation are also elucidated.
