Sets of segregating and nonsegregating popnlations of chilli were evalnated to study inheritance of cluster bearing fruit habit. The cluster habit was recessive and governed by two gene pairs with specific dominant and recessive epistasis. The F2 segregated into 13: 3. BC1 into 1:0 and BC2 into 1: 1. The genotypes of clustered chilli was Cl1Cl1cl2cl2. No maternal effect was observed in the inheritance of clusterness.
