Genetic variability and heritability were studied for six characters in 15 genotypes (8 F5, 6 fixed lines, and one standard variety) of wheat under high temperature (about 35°C) and rainfed conditions. Grain yield/ear showed high heritability, and high genotypic coefficient of variability (GCV) and genetic advance (GA), whereas plant yield showed low heritability, high GCV and GA. High heritability and low GCV and GA were associated with plant height. Grain yield/ear seems to be of considerable value to the plant breeder for selection under high temperature and rainfed conditions.
