Abstract

Heterosis over better parent was maximum for pods per plant, seeds per plant and seed yield in the crosses T3×PG82-l, T3×BRG 8, and JG 62×PG 82-1. For 100-seed weight, highest better parent heterosis was observed in the cross Pant G114 × PG 82-1. Pant G114 × JG 62 was the only cross which showed a positive better parent heterosis for seeds per pod. in general, hybrids showing high heterosis also showed high inbreeding depression.
