Abstract

Genetic analysis of BOAA content was done in five crosses using generation mean. An investigation of this nature for determination of gene action utilizing six generations was taken up for the first time in this crop. Fixable additive gene effect was observed in cross P5 × P6 and predominantly additive gene effect in cross P2×P4. in two crosses (P3×P4 and P5×P3) out of five crosses, predominantly nonadditive gene effect was operating along with significant additive × additive interaction in cross P 5 × P 3. Predominance of fixable effects in majority of the crosses indicated that it would be amenable to early generation selection.
