Abstract

The combining ability was estimated in a line-tester analysis involving converted CMS lines. Nonadditive gene action was predominant for days to flowering, plant height, 100-seed weight and seed yield, CMS-234, and amongst seven converted CMS lines, F-48, F-75 and F-89 were the most desirable parents for economic traits. Crosses recording high sca effect involved parents with high × low or low × low gca effects.
