Abstract

A diallel set of 8 × 8 crosses among low, intermediate and high gracosinolate parents was made. The results of this study suggested that, both general and specific combining abilities (gca, aca) are important in the expression of this trait. Both gca and sea components of variance are significant. However, the magnitude of nonadditive component was higher than that of the additive component for glucosinolate content. Heterosis or population improvement programme can be undertaken to evolve low glucosinolate cultivars.
