Abstract

Fusarium wilt and sterility mosaic virus (?) are the two most important diseases of pigeonpea, causing considerable yield losses to the crop. Various aspects relating to these diseases; i.e. mode of transmission, pathogenic races, genetics, screening for resistance, breeding methodology and disease control measures usingcultural practices and resistant varieties have been reviewed. Latest information of significant use to the geniticists, breeders and plant pathologists, particularly for development of resistant varieties has been compiled.
