Abstract

Among 28 intervarietal crosses studied, the average inbreeding depression for seed yield from F1 to F2 generation was 14.74%, and from F2 to F3 6.09%. The mean inbreeding depression for the major yield components (except 1000-seed weight) in the high range. The cross combinations Candle X Torch, YST-151 x Candle, and PT-30 X Candle could be considered to be desirable crosses from the composite breeding point of view.
