Abstract

Three statistical techniques, namely linear regression, stability and stress sensitivity index were compared to study the salt tolerance in wheat. These methods gave similar results. However, stress sensitivity index has its own merit and is recommended to study the salinity stress tolerance. Nevertheless, the tandem use of these methods would give a more comprehensive information for salt tolerance. The salt tolerant parents KH 375 and WH 157 are recommended as the potential parents for evolving the salt tolerance genotypes. The cross KH 375 x HD 2009 appeared to be promising cross.
