The mode of inheritance and allelic relationship among genes for resistance to bacterial blight (Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, iso-GR) in eight rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars was studied. The reaction of F1 and segregation pattern in F2 and F3 generations from the crosses of the test cultivars with MW-10, revealed the presence of single recessive gene in IR-54, R732-2-49-2-2, R744-1-107-2-2 and RP2151-33-2 and two independent recessive genes in R712-1-G5-2-2, R731-1-73-2-1, R738-1-G4-2-and R741-1-55-2-2. The resistant gene(s) present in these cultivars, segregated independently to Xa-1 gene of IRBB-1.
