Stem and leaf explants of ten field bean [Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet] genotypes were cultured on MS medium supplemented with different growth regulators. The genotypic differences In relation to explants and growth regulators for callus induction were studied. Maximum response for callusing (99.05%) was recorded by Konkan Wal 1. Direct plantlet regeneration using shoot-tip and cotyledonary node explants revealed that, shoot-tip had greater regeneration potential (92.19%) than cotyledonary node explant (79.69%). The highest plantlet regeneration response (92.19%) was shown by Konkan Wall. The genotypes Konkan Wall, Hebbal 3, Arka Vijay, ACCW 113 and ACCW 166 were statistically at par with each other. The genotypes Konkan Wal 2, ACCW 116, ACCW 147, ACCW 148 and ACCW 165 were also at par with each other. The genotypes Konkan Wall, Arka Vijay and ACCW 116 were statistically significant over ACCW 148, ACCW 147, Konkan Wal 2 and ACCW 116. The plantlets were rooted on MS medium supplemented with 1 mg/1 NAA. After hardening in glass house the plantlets were planted In field. Survival of plants in glass house and field was 70 and 80%, respectively.
