The results indicate that the quantity of seeds produced by the heads left in-situ was more in comparision to those which were. transplanted. There was no significant difference in germination capacity of seeds raised by different treatments.
The quality of heads produced in different treatments also did not vary significantly, though the heads produced from the seeds obtained in treatment A and B proved superior.
In view of the above facts it can be said that seed raising in situ does not have any serious drawback. On the other hand the cost of seed production by this method will be low. However, the growers should take care that only good quality heads are selected for seed production, and small bolted or green heads with loose curd should be discarded.
