Regeneration of the shoots and roots by stem cuttings of plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.), varieties Early Round and Howe, as influenced by three concentrations of beta indole butyric acid has been studied.
The untreated cuttings generally failed to produce roots, although callus, root initials, small shoots and leaves were formed. Highest degree of rooting and most vigorous shoots were developed on the cuttings which were treated with beta-indole butyric acid, 30 p.p.m. concentration. Positive correlation between leaf area and root development was observed.
