Abstract

1. Flower buds in ‘amla’ appear in the first week of April when the tree is leafless and the flowering continues till the middle of May, Blooming period is about one month.

2. The female flowers constitute a-very small percentage (0.06) of the total number of unisexual flowers on the plants.

3. Tbe stigma has been found to remain receptive for nearly six days

4. Female flowers appear on the upper end of a growing branchlet, the male flowers occuring in the lower part.

5. The fruits are visible after about four and a half months time from the time of the opening of the flowers.

6. The initial percentage set was about 12.3.

7. There is a heavy drop of fruits.
