Because of the low imbibition and germination percentage of seeds of two plants H. eichwaldi and T. portulachastrum under the laboratory conditions, the present work was carried out. It has been found that at suitable concentrations, sodium cyanide accelerates both imbibition and germination. The best results obtained with T. portulachastrum was by soaking the seeds in 250 ppm., solution for 48 hours, which gave 95 per cent germination while in H. eichwaldi the best results was given at a higher concentration viz., 2000 ppm., for 24 hours giving 75 per cent germination.
