Out of 9 genera of Rutaceae examined Clausena, Fortunella, Poncirus and Citrus showed 7.0, 100.0, 53.0 and 0.0 to 100.0 per cent polyembryonate seeds respectively. Deformed or uneven seeds were found to be usually polyembryonate. The larger, whiter and less glossy embryo of a seed was usually a sexual one. In vitro nucelli culture of 14 plant species of Rutaceae was done with varying success. Well rooted plantlets were obtained in some of them which could not survive when transplanted in pots. Dissected embryos were also cultured in different media. Moist filter paper was found to be the best germinating medium but the best growth was noted in vermiculite subsequently.
