Response of Lactuca sativa to gibberellic acid concentrations at various growth stages has been evaluated by studying different growth characters at the time of harvesting. Treatment with higher concentrations of GA indeed resulted into poorer yields. GA treatments did not affect the number of leaves per plant but had severe effect on the leaf growth which in turn seems to account for the recorded poor yield response. Progressive stalk elongations, mainly at the cost of its thickness, were also recorded due to treatment with higher concentration of GA.
