Studies on Sub-Surface Drip Method of Irrigation for Vegetables: I. Onion and Sugar Beet

Studies conducted at Haryana Agricultural University with drip method of irrigation on onion and sugarbeet showed significant increase in yield and diameter of produce as compared with surface method of irrigation. The system uses light preforated plastic pipes hurried in the soil between crop rows to supply the water to the crop roots. The system has a high water use efficiency and uneven land does not require land levelling.
