Eight hybrids and their parents were studied to investigate the extent of heterosis. Out of eight hybrids seven showed a significant increase for the number of female flowers over better parent. The maximum heterosis was exhibited by the cross 5414 x 6106 over mean of the parents and superior parent respectively. The maximum significant increase of 33.33 per cent for number of fruits was exhibited by the cross Type 1 x 6022 over mean of the parents. The significant increase of 41.72 per cent for length of fruit was exhibited by the cross 5902 X 5716. The maximum heterosis of 38.29 and 13.64 per cent for weight of fruits was exhibited by the cross Type 1 x 6022 over mean of the parents as well as better parent. Significant heterosis of 17.14 per cent for number of seeds per fruits was noted by the cross 5717 x Type 1 over mean of the parents. Length, breadth and 100 seed weight showed positive heterosis in different crosses but the increase was not significant.
