An experiment was conducted on isolation and estimation of Florachrome A and B in control and mutant flowering Ornamental plants. 0.5 g of fresh petals are enough for extraction of pigments of Rose Cv. when dissolved in 15 ml of acetone. Method of extraction of these pigments have been standardised. Estimation of the same at different wavelengths suggested the presence of different Florachromes within the same Cultivar of Rose viz., Gulzar. The method is much simpler and easier than paper chromatography method and even minutest changes in mutant plants could be detected.
