Abstract

The influence of seven rootstocks on Coorg orange (C. reticulata) with respect to tree vigour, stionic congeniality and tree decline (chlorosis) for the period of 12 years was studied. The rootstocks Rough lemon and Belladakithuli have shown better performance than others, while Sour orange’, lime and Naichakotha poor. The performance of Khatta and Baduvapuli were found less satisfactory with respect to tree vigour; Baduvapuli, good with respect to stionic congeniality and lesser chlorosis. Considering all the three criteria namely tree vigour, stionic congeniality and chlorosis percentage the rootstocks and the seedling Coorg orange (control) can be placed in descending order of their merit as:—

Rough lemon, Belladakithuli, Baduvapuli, seedling Coorg orange, Khatta, Naichakotha, Lime and Sour orange.
