Abstract

Blossom bud differentiation in Jamun noticed on 20th January, in the year 1966 and continued for 43 days, while during 1967, the blossom bud differentiation took place on 28th January and continued upto 14th March. The development of the floral buds was a continuous process. The floral parts in Jamun arose in acropetal succession. The anther wall consisted of epidermis, fibrous endothecium, one to two middle layers and a tapetum. The arrangement of young microspores was tetrahedral and pollen grains are shed at the bicelled stage.
