Abstract

The present investigations showed the maximum effect of IBA (more than 90 per cent rooting in many cases) on Sweet lime hardwood cuttings when applied in higher concentrations of 2,000 and 4,000 ppm. These concentrations produced better results in almost all respects and there was statistically ho difference in the performance of cuttings under, 2,000 and 4,000 ppm. The same concentrations of IBA, on the other hand, had no effect on the rooting of lemon cuttings. There was no significant defference in the performance of cuttings under different potting media although sand slightly increased the number of roots per cuttings. Between the two varieties of lemon, Eureka proved to be superior over Seedless in all respects and the differences were highly significant. Hardwood cuttings produced better results than semi-hardwood but the differences were not significant.
