Abstract

Studies were carried out on the initial set, fruit drop and abcission of panicle-in Mulgoa mango. The mean initial set was only 11.25 fruits per panicle. The ultimate fruit drop per cent was 98.65. Fruit shedding was heavy during the first three weeks from the date of initial set. Only 15 per cent of the panicles carried the fruits to maturity and these had only one fruit per panicle.

The aqueous spray application of 2, 4, 5-T at 0, 10, 30, 50 and 60 ppm on three week old panicles did not have any effect in terms of fruit-drop control. fruit weight, fruit maturation period or total soluble solids of the ripe fruit.
