Results of Rootstock Trials on Mandarin (Citrus Reticulata Blanco) in Coorg

Abstract

In this paper the results of three rootstock trials for Coorg mandarin laid out during 1955, 1956 and 1961 at Citrus Die-Back Station, Gonicoppal and have been presented.

Considering the overall performance, rootstocks Rough lemon (Coorg Strain C. jambhiri), Belladakithuli (C. maderaspatna) and Baduvapuli (C. pennivisiculata) were found good, while Sour orange, (C. aurantium), acid lime (C. aurantifolia) and Naicha-kotha (C. grandis) were unsatisfactory in 1955 trial; Rough lemon (true strain) (C. jambhiri) and Kodakithuli (C. reticulata) were good, while lemon (C. limon), Molepuli (C. hybrid), lime Sadaphal (C. semperflorens) and pummelo (C. grandis) were unsatisfactory in 1956 trial; Cleopatra mandarin (C. reticulata), Troyer citrange, Poncirus trifoliata (Aust) and P. trifoliata (Rubidoux) were good, while West Indian lime and Maxican Key lime (C. aurantifolia) were found un-satisfactory in 1961 trial.
