An experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research to study the efficacy of Treflan, Eptam and Amiben in controlling the weeds in okra variety Pusa Sawani. Treflan at both the concentrations proved effective in controlling monocot and dicot weeds respectively for a period of one month and fifteen days resulting in increased yields. Eptam proved phytotoxic to germination of okra seeds. An interval of fifteen days after spraying of Eptam was necessary for normal germination of seeds. Even seedlings showed stunted growth which was reflected in the decreased yield. Amiben at 3 kg/ha resulted in stunted growth and abnormal shapes of leaves of okra seedlings which again brought down the yield.
