The varieties S-4, H-4, Pusa Kranti, Punjab Chamkila and Pusa Purple Long among the long types and Punjab Hybrid, Punjab Bahar and T-3 among the round types were superior for most of the economic characters. Varieties suitable for the respective seasons have been indicated. The qualitative characters for stem, leaf, growth habit, flower, fruit and maturity have been summarised.
