Abstract

Fungal flora of seven seed samples of tomato, collected from different sources in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh was studied. Fungi belonging to 13 different genera were isolated from sterilized and unsterilized seeds. Seedborne nature of Sepedonium sp. and Verticillium lateritium was recorded for the first time. V. lateri-tium, Fusarium sporotrichioides are new fungi recorded for India. Curvularia era-grostidis, F. sporotrichioides, F. oxysporum, Cochliobolus spicifer, Cladosporium fulvum, V. lateritium and Stemphyliutn consortiale were pathogenic on tomato seedlings.
