Twenty varieties of muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) were evaluated for their general combining ability utilizing a standard variety as tester. Ten promising strains were selected on the basis of their combining ability for yield, number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight, days to maturity and total soluble solids, so as to further evaluate them by utilizing a diallel cross technique.
