Studies on the effect of the date of planting on leaf curl disease of tomato were conducted during 1971 to 1972 to find out the best planting time of tomato in order to minimise the disease incidence. October to mid December was found to be most effective time for planting of tomato followed by January to 1st March. Sixteenth of March to 16th September plantings were badly affected with disease. There was delayed appearance (132 to 162 days) of the disease between October to mid December planting dates. The disease appeared very early (25 to 45 days) when the crop was planted between 16th March to 16th September.
